IEEE 1451.4 Mini NCAP

EI06 Minimal Dot4 NCAP
This is the PC version of the NVAP with the TEDS read/write capability and an analog input.

TEDS
In previous memos and meetings the procedures for reading the TEDS were discussed. The display on PC screen shows the 64-bit Unique ID of the TEDS in hex, with the family code and CRC separated. This is the first part of the TEDS.

The second part of the TEDS is the 64-bit Basic TEDS. It is displayed as the separate parts (Manufacturer code, etc).

The third part of the TEDS is the Standard TEDS, which contains the IEEE template information (usually). The length of the TEDS is variable but typically (but not always) under 256 bits.

All three parts of the above TEDS are stored in a file (data base) in hex/ASCII format (so that is human readable) for possible later use.

The last part of the TEDS is additional TEDS defined by the manufacturer and may contain a link to an appended (virtual) TEDS. Normally this is in ASCII and requires no further data processing. It is only displayed and stored.

The EI06 program on the PC has a TEDS editor and is able to write the TEDS (via the EI06 NCAP).

Analog Signal Readout
The EI06 has a 14-bit (+ sign) A/D (MAX110) and therefore can read in an analog signal. While it has two channels, only one channel (1) is connected. The EI06 reads in the analog signal and sends it to the PC through the RS232 following a read command. At the PC end, the data is displayed as volts.

The analog data is always read after the TEDS address (Unique ID) has been send on the 1-wire bus. This enables the analog output on all the addressable device (model D4) sensor modules.g input.

Actuators
The control line for actuators is the Enable (ENB) line. It is set high just before the TEDS address is sent if the actuator is to be turned on (else set low). The actuator driver has a flip-flop which latches in the ENB value (1 or 0) when the address is sent. The D4 has an option with a relay to turn off and on external devices.
